🌟 WHAT A START TO OUR NEW HALF TERM AT CARCLAZE! 🌟 We've kicked off the new half term with a fantastic week of learning, creativity and teamwork! 💛 Here's a little look at what's been happening across our school. Getting creative with writing! In Year 5, our children have launched their brand-new writing unit, Outlaws, Bandits and Pirates! 🏴 They've been exploring the features and purpose of non-chronological reports and developing their use of coordinating conjunctions. 🤝 Celebrating what makes us unique! In PSHE, we've started our new topic, Celebrating Differences, sharing ideas about our individual cultures, identities and all the things that make each of us special. 🏃 Teamwork makes the dream work! During PE, children have been putting their collaboration and communication skills to the test in our Outdoor Adventure Activities, tackling a series of exciting team challenges. 🪔 Meanwhile, in R/1... Diwali celebrations! Our youngest learners have been discovering the magic of the Festival of Lights through the story The Best Diwali Ever! They explored how different families celebrate Diwali before getting creative and making their own colourful diva lamps. From swashbuckling writing adventures to celebrating different cultures, it's been a wonderful first week back! Well done, everyone! 🌟🎤 WHAT A WAY TO FINISH HALF TERM AT CARCLAZE! 🎤🌟 It's been another brilliant week full of learning, creativity and new experiences! 💛 🏐 PE in action! Our children have been developing their skills and teamwork through netball. Science explorers! We've been building and drawing electrical circuits, investigating how they work. 🏺 Little archaeologists! Our Year 2/3 children discovered artefacts linked to Ancient Egypt, bringing their history learning to life! 🎤 Our FIRST EVER Carclaze Poetry Slam! We finished the half term by celebrating the power of poetry, performance and spoken word. The slam gave children the opportunity to build confidence, develop oracy skills, perform to an audience and share their creativity. 👏 A huge congratulations to Hemmick, Bamaluz and Sennen classes, who won their respective year-group competitions! They will now go on to proudly represent Carclaze at the St Austell Festival of Music and Spoken Word. We can't wait to see them shine! 🌟 We're incredibly proud of everything our children have achieved this half term. 🌾💛 Celebrating Harvest at Carclaze! 💛🌾 We've had a wonderful time celebrating our Harvest Festival at Carclaze! 🍂 Our children came together for a special assembly, with our fantastic school choir filling the room with song 🎶🎤 We were also delighted to welcome our local foodbank into school to receive the generous donations from our families. These will help support people in our local community who need a little extra help. A huge thank you to all our families for your kindness and generosity. 🏺 A fantastic day of discovery at Wheal Martyn! 🏺 Our Year 2/3 children had a brilliant visit to Wheal Martyn Clay Works, bringing their learning to life! 🌟 🔬 They explored how rocks are formed, sorted and described different rocks, and discovered how china clay is mined and processed. 🏭 They enjoyed a guided tour of the Victorian works, ventured up to a clay pit to see a local clay mine, and even witnessed some live drilling! 😮 🌍 This hands-on experience brought our Science learning about rocks and our local history to life, helping children understand the important role china clay has played in Cornwall.
